The Agency for the Promotion of Technologies for Innovation is Italy's national innovation agency and was established with the goal of enhancing the small and medium size enterprises and industrial districts competitive potential by means of innovative technologies and processes.
While coordinating its efforts with similar European, national and regional institutions and bodies, it contributes to complete a common "European research and innovation area".

Innovation policies
The Agency contributes to increasing the effectiveness of innovation policies, facilitating cooperation on the European, national and regional level, enhancing the capacity and potential of local enterprises and promoting such policies and tools that can bring a positive impact on the innovation diffusion. -
Internationalization
The goal of the Agency is to help driving innovation in Italy and abroad and to raise public awareness of the innovation potential of Italy as a country, nationally and internationally. The Agency contributes to stimulate the innovation skills of SMEs and helps them focusing on exciting opportunities and removing the barriers to the rapidly growing markets (as BRICS countries), aiming thus to share and disseminate best practices in Italy and abroad. -
Innovation networks
The Agency aims to strengthen partnership among various players involved with the innovation, such as universities, science and technology parks, public administration, national and local businesses and networks, stimulating and consolidating Innovation networks by bringing together different players. -
Public-private partnership
The Agency supports research studies and training in the innovation field, based on a public-private partnership method.
